Is there a way to add a Files section to this plugin, so I can separate Files from Discussions? I need to add many files for all users in the group to my board, so it would be great to keep them organized in one place.

No, there's no facility to add a Files section. Are the files just for download? Potentially there's another plugin out there that will achieve this piece of functionality for you.
