Hi, I’m having problems when I add a topic to a board; a link/path is being generated that results in an error.
I’d appreciate some assistance. I also have a couple of other questions about adding some other functionality.

Problem with board topics et al
What's the error that's generated when you add a topic? You might need to clear the permalinks - in the dashboard, go to Settings > Permalinks. Then retest.

I'm only seeing an option to change the structure of the permalinks, not clear them.

Well, I renamed the page and permalink back to "board", which is working with the generated topic title link, but now the log-in and new topic pages are not found with "board" as the parent page, even after doing a hard refresh.

Yes, I hid the board pages when I couldn't get anything other than a 404. I'm sure this is something very small that I'm just not seeing, so I would appreciate you having a look to see what the issue is.

This was resolved by ensuring the page containing the boards didn't have a permalink of domain.com/board/ as it conflicts with the archive page for the board taxonomy.
